Students with a Master's (or licentiate) degree in sport science, and possibly also in other subjects relevant to their doctorate (e.g. psychology, sociology, business administration), have the opportunity to gain further academic qualifications at the Institute of Sport Science by completing a doctorate as well as to participate in the doctoral programme "Problem-oriented Sport Science" of the University of Bern, University of Tübingen, the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology and the Technical University of Munich. Upon successful completion, the doctorate is awarded a Dr. phil.
